Striving to Grow Recreational Opportunities within the Lake Almanor Community
About Lake Almanor
The communities around Lake Almanor, California, in addition to being well known as "gateways" to Lassen Volcanic National Park and the Pacific Crest Trail in Plumas County, are centers for camping, trophy fishing, water sports, hiking and biking, winter sports, and healthy family living. Lake Almanor is the 8th largest reservoir in California.
Lake Almanor offers four seasons of recreation to outdoor enthusiasts. Pick your season, pick your favorite activity. Whether water skiing, wake or snowboarding, cross country skiing, running, hiking, cycling or snowshoeing, Lake Almanor is the destination for you.
Do you dream of taking to the hills on your ATV, snowmobile or exploring Caribou Wilderness on horseback? Plan your stay in Lake Almanor.
Are you an angler seeking the catch of a lifetime, whether bass, trout or salmon? Test your skills in Lake Almanor and the North Fork of the Feather River.
Do you crave being close to nature or have a preference for more leisurely activities? Try a leaf peeping expedition, a patio boat cruise or spend your time discovering the wildlife that abounds in Lake Almanor. The Basin also offers fine art galleries, good books, art tours, a variety of craft fairs and quilting workshops.
Are you competitive and like to feel challenged? Register now for the Fourth of July Chester Classic 5K Run-Walk or the 28th annual Street Rod Extravaganza. Feel the need for speed or the burn that comes from long distance cycling? Try the Century Mile High 100 Bike Ride Father's Day weekend.
In addition to the many events and independent recreation opportunities to be found in the Lake Almanor Basin, a host of formalized activities and events are offered by the Almanor Recreation and Park District.
