Welcome to the recreational experience of Lake Almanor
The Lake Almanor Basin is ringed with rural, mountain communities situated at the 4,534 foot elevation, distinct for being the location where the Cascade Mountain Range meets the Sierra Nevada. Chester, the headquarters for Almanor Recreation and Park District is the retail center that serves the many communities that surround the 35-mile circumference of Lake Almanor.
Chester, in addition to being well known as a "Gateway" community to the Lassen Volcanic National Park, is also the closet township to the Pacific Crest Trail in Plumas County.
Lake Almanor offers four seasons of recreation to outdoor enthusiasts. Pick your season, pick your favorite activity. Whether water skiing, wake or snowboarding, cross country skiing, running, hiking, cycling or snowshoeing, Lake Almanor is the desination for you.
