The Mission of the Almanor Recreation and Park District (ARPD) is to provide recreation opportunities to the greater Almanor Basin in a coordinated and responsible manner.
The Organization of Recreation in the Almanor Basin
The unfunded Almanor Recreation and Park District (ARPD) was officially formed in April 2000 after receiving a 70% voter approval rating in the March 2000 primary. The district has one part-time, paid staff member and all other administrative and operational tasks are performed by five volunteer directors, a number of dedicated community members, and adult and youth sports league parents.
The district serves the communities of Chester, Canyon Dam, Lake Almanor West, Bailey Creek, Foxwood, Lake Almanor Country Club, Peninsula Village, Hamilton Branch, the East Shore, the West Shore, and Prattville, a total of approximately 4,500 individuals.
